Auto Accidents Caused by Defective Auto Parts
Many of the over 40,000 automobile accidents that occur in the United States each year occur as a result of defective auto parts. Often a driver will relate an experience where they suddenly lost control of their vehicle or the brakes failed which caused an accident that was completely out of their control. This is an example of an accident that is caused or exacerbated by defective auto parts such as bad brake lines, rack and pinion steering defects, and many other types of defective car parts that can affect a driver's ability to steer or stop their vehicle safely.
All too often, drivers are unaware that a defective auto part is the cause of the accident and are wracked with guilt and possibly even a traffic violation for causing an accident that was actually beyond their control. It is vital that the manufacturers of defective auto parts are held accountable so that more lives are not placed in jeopardy and fewer accidents can occur each year. Many lives can be saved when a defective auto part is discovered and recalled. Persons who have been involved in an accident that was caused in full or in part by defective auto parts have a right to be fairly compensated for their damages.
Sometimes an accident is not caused by a defective auto part, but injuries are sustained in an accident because of them such as a defective seat belt or an airbag that fails to deploy. Defective car parts such as these do not cause the accident, but they may be responsible for causing more severe personal injuries and even for the wrongful death of the driver or passengers involved in the accident. This is still a situation where the manufacturer has failed to meet their responsibility for providing safe, reliable parts, parts that a person has the right to assume are safe and will protect them and that the average person has no way of determining that there is a problem until it is too late. Manufacturers must be held accountable and these faulty car parts must be taken off the market in order to protect thousands of innocent lives each year.
